A project to share the historical context of town

“Mixed Bathing World 2012” is an International Contemporary Art Triennale that will take place in Beppu (south of Japan), a famous natural place known for its hot spring. The artists have visited this town, enjoyed the view, and created many works. Satoshi Hirose created two projects in this Triennale: a project to regenerate an old vacant house, and a project to share the historical context of town.

In the work of the second project " Walk", Hirose organized a walking project. It is a small trip to search for three sites in the old Hamawaki area. This area was a red-light district until 50 years ago. Hirose chose three different locations to recover the memory of this area. The project is a plan to share memories of the Hamawaki area with visitors.
